The iron blazer "Amsteldiep" was a single-masted sailing ship built in 1885 by the Royal Company De Schelde in Vlissingen. This type of vessel, a so-called 'blazer', was used for transporting oysters. A distinctive feature of the "Amsteldiep" was that it was constructed entirely of iron, which was unusual at the time, as many ships were still made of wood.
The ship had a length of 15.44 metres and a width of 4.67 metres. Its displacement was 60 tonnes, including 6 tonnes of water in the well. The "Amsteldiep" was known as a fast and excellent sailing vessel.
For model builders, a construction drawing of the "Amsteldiep" is available in scale 1:75. This drawing, made by L.D. Struyck, includes frame and line drawings, a deck plan, views, rigging plan, and some details.
