The Enterse zomp is a historic flat-bottomed boat originating from Enter in Twente. These zompen were used between 1800 and 1925 for transporting goods over the Regge, a river that served as a lifeline for the region. In its heyday, as many as 125 zompen sailed on the river simultaneously.

The Enterse zomp is an oak flat-bottomed boat, approximately 12 metres long and 2.70 metres wide. Characteristic features include the 'krommers' (curved crossbeams), 'opboeisels' (loose boards that raise the sides), and leeboards on both sides for better manoeuvrability. The zomp has a shallow draught (approximately 40 cm), making it suitable for shallow water. Originally, zompen were propelled by sails (jib and mainsail), poles (long sticks), and ropes.

Restoration and preservation

In 1986, the first modern Enterse zomp, the "Regt door Zee", was launched. This replica was built by punt builder Wildeboer from Giethoorn, based on historical designs . Since then, several zompen have been built, including the "Vriendschap" (2011) and the "Schuttevaer" (2014) . These zompen are maintained by the Regional Enterse Zomp Foundation, which also manages a floating wharf and education centre .
