These two schooners, M.A. James (1899) and Mary Rhoda, were notable vessels in their time. Here is a brief overview of each:

Schooner "M.A. James" (1899): The schooner M.A. James was a wooden sailing ship built in 1899. It was likely primarily used for cargo transport or coastal trade. Vessels like the M.A. James were common at the end of the 19th century, as they were fast and manoeuvrable due to their two or more masts and efficient rigging. Their ability to navigate through narrow spaces or varying wind conditions made them ideal for trade routes along coasts and islands.

Schooner "Rhoda Mary" (1868): The Rhoda Mary is a West Country topsail schooner built in 1868 in Devoran, Cornwall. She was known for her speed and beauty. After more than fifty years of service as a cargo vessel, she was decommissioned in 1925 and converted into a houseboat on the River Medway in Kent. In the 1960s, the upper part of the ship burned down, but the underwater hull remained largely intact. A crowdfunding campaign has been launched to save the remains of the Rhoda Mary and bring them back to her birthplace in Truro for restoration.
