The ocean-going tug m.s. Elbe (1959-1976, 826 GRT, 2780 ihp) of L.Smit & Co's Internationale Sleepdienst from Rotterdam. Built in 1959 at J. & K. Smit as m.s. Elbe for L.Smit & Co's Internationale Sleepdienst in Rotterdam. In 1976, converted into a pilot boat at Verolme United Shipyards. In 1976, to Association of Maryland Pilots, Baltimore (USA) as m.s. Maryland. In 1985, to Rainbow Warrior Holdings (Greenpeace), London as m.s. Gondwana. In 1985, converted into an action ship at Oranjewerf in Amsterdam. In 1985, to Greenpeace Int. Inc., USA as m.s. Greenpeace. In 2001, to the Port Museum in Rotterdam, its exterior was restored to its original state and it was renamed m.s. Elbe. During further restoration, the ship was rammed in Rotterdam in 2004 and sank. After being salvaged, it sank again. From 2005, the ship is being further restored as a museum ship in the port of Maassluis.
