The WAMBRAU was intended for service in Netherlands New Guinea and was transported on 09.02.1957 aboard the m.s."RIOUW" to Singapore. From there, she continued under her own power to Sorong. There she performed various tasks. For example, in 1959 she towed a defective seaplane over 500 nautical miles back to Biak! After New Guinea was transferred to Indonesia, the "WAMBRAU" returned to the Netherlands in October 1962. This happened aboard the m.s."SCHIELLOYD". She then served as a harbour and coastal tug for the navy and was sold in 1987 to the well-known dealer Joop Mos in Enkhuizen.
