The new Willem Barendsz was built in 1955 by Wilton-Fijenoord in Schiedam on behalf of the Dutch Whaling Company. The ship was sold to Japan on 21 July 1964, including the Dutch catch quota.Ì´Ì_Shortly after this, the Netherlands turned against whaling. At present, there is again support for a limited catch of these magnificent animals. That's how it goes....
