The Fokker F.II is an aircraft built by the Dutch company Fokker in the 1910s. The design of the F.II was created by engineer Reinhold Platz and is the first passenger aircraft from the Fokker factories. The prototype was built in Germany where the first test flight took place in October 1919. Not much later, production was moved to Veere in Zeeland.

The F.II is a single-engine, two-bladed propeller aircraft. It is a high-wing monoplane with a semi-open cockpit and dual controls. Behind the cockpit is a cabin with space for 4 passengers.

Fokker F.II with KLM.

After KLM opened its first scheduled service with a leased aircraft between Schiphol and London in May 1920, the then director, Albert Plesman, quickly felt the need for his own machines. His choice fell on the Fokker F.II. He placed his order for 2 machines in July 1920 for the amount of 45,000 guilders. The transfer of the H-NABC and H-NABD took place on 25 August 1920. On 30 September, the first commercial flight took place. It was a return flight between Schiphol and London. On board, besides the pilot, were Plesman himself, a journalist and a ground engineer.

The F.IIs immediately caused friction between Plesman and Fokker. The latter had already started building the Fokker F.III, of which KLM ordered 8. Plesman was keen to trade in his F.IIs for them. Fokker did not allow this. The F.IIs therefore remained in use with KLM after the delivery of the F.IIIs (although they were only used sporadically). Eventually, they were sold to the Belgian Sabena in 1927.
