The QE2 was built as the successor to the famous Queen Mary and Queen Elizabeth.

She was the last true ocean liner built for this route.
The QE2 had a streamlined profile, modern turbine propulsion and was lighter and faster than her predecessors.
It was later converted from steam turbines to diesel-electric propulsion (1986–87).
In 1982, the QE2 was requisitioned by the British government and converted into a troop transport ship.
It transported more than 3,000 troops and helicopters to the South Atlantic.
After her transatlantic service, she was mainly used for luxury cruises around the world.
The QE2 made many voyages around the world and enjoyed worldwide fame.
In 2008, she was taken out of service and sold to investors in Dubai.
The intention was to convert her into a floating hotel.
Since 2018, the QE2 has been permanently moored in the port of Dubai and serves as a hotel, restaurant and museum.
