The MS Vrijburgh, built in 1935, was a Dutch motor vessel constructed by the De Noord shipyard in Alblasserdam. The ship was launched on 24 February 1949 and delivered on 23 May 1949. It was registered under the Dutch number 7385 Z ROTT 1949 and had the call sign PIKK.

Ownership and Operation

The ship was initially operated by Wm H. Müller & Co. N.V. of Rotterdam. In 1962, the ship was lengthened, increasing its dimensions and tonnages. In 1967, the ship was sold to Ubaldo Gennari fu Torquato & Co. of Ancona, Italy, and renamed Anna Madre. Later, ownership was transferred to Navigazione Alga S.p.A. of Genoa, Italy. In the 1970s, the ship came into the hands of Dott. Franco Pericoli of Rimini, Italy.
