The motor vessel MS Albatros from 1952 was a Dutch motor cargo ship originally built at the 'De Vooruitgang' Shipyard in Alphen aan den Rijn. The ship had a gross tonnage of 297 tons and a deadweight capacity of 389 tons. It was equipped with a 195 hp 4-cylinder Industrie diesel engine, type 4VD6A, and had a speed of approximately 9 knots. Its dimensions were 43.5 metres in length, 7.44 metres in width, and a draught of 2.75 metres.
The ship was registered on 14 December 1951 under the name Albatros and was owned by Eerke Rieske from Groningen. It was managed by E. Wagenborg's Shipping & Forwarding Company N.V. from Delfzijl. In 1966, the ship was sold to Michael Th. Chastanet from Castries, Saint Lucia, and renamed Juantanamera. Later, the ship changed owner and name: it was renamed Albatros in 1967, Albatros III in 1979, and finally Albatros in 1986, under the management of the Government of Grenada. The ship was eventually scrapped in 1987 after sinking near Guadeloupe.
In 1959, the Albatros collided with the pilot boat Betelgeuze off the Waterway, sustaining damage to its bow. In 1987, the ship sank near Guadeloupe during a voyage with a cargo of maize, fishmeal, and soybeans from Puerto Rico to Martinique. The crew was rescued by the passenger ship Mermoz.
