The MS Willem van Oranje, built in 1953, was a Dutch cargo-passenger ship that served on the route between the Netherlands and the Dutch East Indies (now Indonesia). The ship was built by Boele's Scheepswerven & Machinefabriek in Bolnes, the Netherlands, and had a gross tonnage of 7,328 GRT.

It was designed to carry both cargo and passengers, with accommodation for 61 passengers. The ship had a length of 141.26 metres and was powered by a 9,600 hp diesel engine.

In 1965, the ship was sold to the German shipping company Deutsche Zeereederei and renamed MS Ferdinand Freiligrath. The ship remained in service until it was scrapped in 1979.

A notable incident in the ship's history was its collision with the MS Willem Ruys on 6 January 1953 in the Red Sea. Both ships approached each other at close quarters, which was customary to allow passengers to greet each other.

Due to miscommunication between the ships, an unexpected change of course occurred, resulting in a collision. The Willem van Oranje sustained significant damage to its bow, while the Willem Ruys had less damage. There were no casualties, but the incident received extensive media attention.
