The MS Carnival Liberty is a cruise ship built in 2005 by theFincantieri shipyard in Monfalcone, Italy. The ship is the fourth in Carnival Cruise Line’s Conquest class and was christened on 19 July 2005 by actress Mira Sorvino in Civitavecchia, Italy.

The ship offers a variety of cabin types, including inside cabins, outside cabins with sea views and balcony cabins. Suites are also available for guests seeking extra luxury. All cabins are equipped with modern amenities, such as air conditioning, flat-screen TVs and en-suite bathrooms.

 

Carnival Liberty features a wide range of facilities, including:

Theatres: A 1,500-seat theatre for live entertainment.

Swimming pools: Five swimming pools, one of which has a retractable roof.

Bars: 22 bars spread across the ship.

Restaurants: Four restaurants offering a variety of dining options.

Casino: A casino with 18 gaming tables and 216 slot machines.

Sports facilities: Volleyball and basketball courts, a jogging track and a fitness centre.

Wellness: A spa and various whirlpools.


 

Itineraries and History

Following her delivery in 2005, Carnival Liberty set sail for the first time on a 12-day Mediterranean cruise, calling at ports such as Naples, Dubrovnik, Venice, Messina, Barcelona, Cannes and Livorno. In October 2005, the ship made a 16-day transatlantic crossing from Rome to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and subsequently began offering 6- and 8-day cruises to the Bahamas and the Caribbean. 

 

In 2014, Carnival Liberty began offering year-round cruises from Port Canaveral, Florida, with itineraries to the Bahamas and the Caribbean.

 

The ship underwent several refurbishments, including in 2011, 2016 and 2021, during which new restaurants, bars and entertainment options were added, amongst other things.


 

Art and Design

Carnival Liberty houses an impressive collection of artworks, including large tropical-inspired paintings by Virginia Ferrara, bronze sculptures by Susanna Holt and colourful glassworks by Luciano Vistosi. These artworks can be found in various locations on board, including the promenade and by the pools.
