The MS Prinsendam (2002) was an iconic cruise ship operated by Holland America Line (HAL), renowned for its intimate atmosphere and cosmopolitan itineraries. Originally built as the Royal Viking Sun in 1988, the ship was acquired by HAL in 2002 and renamed Prinsendam.

Following its acquisition by HAL in 2002, the Prinsendam was deployed on various world cruises, including destinations in North and South America, Africa, Asia, Australia and Europe. The ship was renowned for its unique and rarely repeated itineraries, which made it a favourite among experienced cruise travellers.
In July 2018, it was announced that the Prinsendam would be sold to the German shipping company Phoenix Reisen. The ship was chartered by HAL to continue scheduled voyages until 1 July 2019. Following an extensive refurbishment in Hamburg, the ship was renamed Amera on 16 August 2019 and continued to sail under the Phoenix Reisen flag, offering cruises in the Mediterranean and the Norwegian fjords.
The Prinsendam was renowned for its elegant and refined atmosphere, with an interior inspired by classical styles. The ship featured art galleries, lectures and cultural programmes, making it a favourite among travellers seeking a tranquil and culturally rich cruise experience.
