The SS Tibia was a Dutch motor tanker, built in 1939 by the Nederlandsche Scheepsbouw Maatschappij (NSM) in Amsterdam. The ship was operated by Shell Tankers N.V., a subsidiary of the Royal Dutch Shell Group. The Tibia was part of Shell's fleet modernisation programme at the end of the 1930s.

During the Second World War, the Tibia was involved in several incidents:
27 June 1941: The ship was attacked by a German U-boat, but managed to escape without major damage.
3 March 1943: Again, the Tibia became the target of a German U-boat. Details about this attack are scarce, but the ship survived and remained in service.
Despite these wartime experiences, the Tibia remained active for Shell Tankers during and after the war.
