The MS Jason was a Dutch motor cargo ship built in 1955 for the Royal Dutch Steamship Company (KNSM). The ship was part of the so-called "Jason" series, a fleet of ships whose names ended in "-on", "-es" or "-is", inspired by Greek, Roman and Egyptian mythology.

History and Service

In 1970, the ship was lengthened by 9.75 metres at the Boele Bolnes shipyard in Alblasserdam, the Netherlands. Following the lengthening, the ship had an increased gross tonnage of 6,000 GRT, a net tonnage of 3,400 NRT and a deadweight of 7,500 tonnes. The ship was mainly deployed on trade routes to Africa, South America and the Far East.

In 1977, the KNSM began phasing out the “Jason” series, and in 1979 the ship was sold to a shipping company in South America. The ship was eventually scrapped in 1984.
